Types of Heels
Shoes are initially designed to protect the human feet from bruises and damage from daily activities. But today, it serves more than a protection for the feet; it has become one of the essential fashion accessories especially for women. The shoe that people wear sometimes says something about his or her personality and state in the society. In fact in 1500s, the Europeans called men and women in high-heeled shoes as “well-heeled” referring to their ability to afford more costly shoes.
Heels are made to protect the back of the shoe and serves for decorative purposes as well. There are different types of heels such as flat heel, chunky heel, wedge heel, and of course, the stiletto heel.
Flat heeled shoes are ideal for people who want hassle free walking for a long period of time like when going to the mall for shopping and hanging out with friends. Chunky heel shoes and sandals on the other hand can be used to achieve a trendy chic or funky look depending on the design and color of the shoe. Wedge heel shoes add height and a fashionable style to the user but it is easier to walk compared to other types of high heeled shoes. Wedge shoes also look good with any length of skirts and dresses.
Stiletto heels are long thin heels that usually range from one inch to two inches or more depending on the platform of the shoe. Generally, stilettos are popular because it gives the illusion of longer legs and greater height. The major disadvantage though of stiletto heeled shoes is that they are difficult to use and leads to painful leg muscle problems.
